Central Co-op Members earn £2.3m ahead of Christmas as new festive rewards go live

Central Co-op is helping Members make their money go further this festive season, with many already earning significant Reward ££s through the Society’s reimagined and pioneering Membership proposition - with some Members able to earn up to £40 back in time for their Christmas big shop.

This November, Central Co-op Members can take part in a series of festive app challenges designed to help them save for their Christmas big shop or seasonal treats. By activating the challenges in the Central Co-op app, Members can earn up to £25 back in Reward ££s throughout the month, on top of the value they earn every time they shop. All rewards are added straight into their Member Pot, giving Members even more control over how they save and spend in the run-up to Christmas.

Early data shows that Members have collectively earned £2.3m in Reward ££s since its Membership relaunch, with the average Member saving more since the switch from Member-only pricing.

Charlotte Castille, Head of Membership Brand and Marketing, said: “Christmas can be a financially pressured time, so we’re delighted to help Members make their money go further. Through our new app, Members are earning real, meaningful rewards simply by shopping with us - and many are saving these up to make Christmas that little bit easier. We’re thrilled to see the new Membership already having such a positive impact.

“The festive fun is set to continue throughout December too, with our first-ever Member Advent Calendar game, exclusively in the Central Co-op app. More will be revealed closer to the time, but expect bonus Reward££s, exclusive Member treats and seasonal discounts.”

Members earn Reward ££s every time they shop. Central Co-op’s refreshed Membership saw the retailer replace Member-only pricing with cashback-style Reward ££s - making it the first UK grocer to move away from tiered pricing. While many are now beginning to follow suit, Central Co-op led the way in ensuring everyone pays the same price, while Members get even more value back through Reward ££s in their Member Pot, ready to save up or spend on their next shop.

• Activate exclusive in-app offers

With Christmas approaching, many Members are choosing to save up their Reward££s to help with festive food shops, gifts or seasonal favourites.

Charlotte adds: “We designed the new Membership based on feedback from more than 20,000 Members. The ability to save up rewards, especially at Christmas, was something they told us really mattered. It’s wonderful to see Members using their pots exactly as intended.”
