Kettering Co-op Invests in Friends of Broughton School

Friends of Broughton School from Kettering is celebrating after receiving a cheque for £5000 from Central England Co-operative.

The cheque was presented to Camilla Veevers from the local group by Store Manager Andrew Jansen on 29th July after it made an application to Central England Co-operative’s Community Dividend Fund.  The funds will be used to purchase outdoor furniture and equipment which will directly benefit children from Broughton School.

Camilla Veevers from Friends of Broughton School commented: “We would like to thank Central England Co-operative for these much needed funds.  The money will be used to purchase outdoor furniture and equipment allowing us to better meet the needs of the children.

Charities and local groups can apply for awards through Central England Co-operative’s Community Dividend Fund which guarantees that at least 1% of the Society’s trading profit is reinvested in local communities. The scheme has already donated over £2million to local neighbourhood causes.

Andrew Jansen Store Manager at Central England Co-operative’s Kettering Food Store added: “It is a founding principle of our Society to reward customer loyalty by investing in and supporting local communities.  Every three months, many schemes benefit from awards which range in value from £100 to £5,000 making local communities better places for our members to live and work in.  This is a very worthwhile project which will benefit Broughton  for many years to come.”
