Users of Castle Park Brook Wildlife Project are celebrating after receiving a cheque for £2000 from Central England Co-operative.
The cheque was presented to Barry Martin from the local group by Store Supervisor, Chloe Steelie, on Tuesday (21th) after they made an application to Central England Co-operative’s Community Dividend Fund. The funds will be used towards the clearance and maintenance of the Castle Park Brook area.
Barry Martin from Castle Park Wildlife Project commented: “We would like to thank Central England Co-operative for these much needed funds. The money will be used for the clearance and maintenance of the brook area.”
Charities and local groups can apply for awards through Central England Co-operative’s Community Dividend Fund which guarantees that at least 1% of the Society’s trading profit is reinvested in local communities. The scheme has already donated over £2million to local neighbourhood causes.
Chloe Steelie, Store Supervisor at Central England Co-operative’s Burton Food Store added: “It is a founding principle of our Society to reward customer loyalty by investing in and supporting local communities.
Every three months, many schemes benefit from awards which range in value from £100 to £5,000 making local communities better places for our members to live and work in. This is a very worthwhile project which will benefit the area for many years to come.”
Any member of Central England Co-operative can apply for a Community Dividend award and application forms are available at any Central England Co-operative trading outlet or can be downloaded from our website: http://communities.centralengland.coop/
